Beomgyu had always been the weird guy in his parents’ eyes. His mother worked as a local therapist, helping people around, while his father was just a usual office worker, all day stuck between his papers. That’s how basic and stable his parents’ lives had been, which was obviously not the same for him.

Beomgyu always believed he was a person who would give his soul in order to make music. He loved making music; it was his safe space and hobby. He loved making music and pouring all his feelings into it, but his parents never understood his passion for his own soulful music. They always dismissed it, saying he was just being a teen still discovering his own interests and stuff, but they never caught his loneliness or the lack of understanding he felt every time he opened his mouth during dinners with his parents while making conversations with them.

On the other side, it was Soobin who had so many hardships in his life. His mother was mentally unstable, so she sought therapy most of the time, and as a student himself with a dead father, he couldn’t take care of himself and her at the same time. So he was mostly taking care of her and helping around people in the local community while his mother was getting therapy. And Soobin’s mother was the one taking care of her; she was able to catch a flicker in Soobin that nobody else noticed. He was a smart guy, a genuine person who would go too far he just needed someone to push him to do the first move.

How ridiculous; It was true: she could understand anyone but her son. She was always there on Soobin’s side, helping him. That made Beomgyu start questioning himself who must be that guy his own mother was so interested in, so much more than himself? He had to know who that boy was. He felt such hatred toward him, so he decided to visit his mother’s office that day, only to find Soobin there with his mother, and his own mother comforting the tall boy, all gentle and caring.

The act was just the same: introducing them to each other, forced smiles, and the idea of being friends and closer. It didn’t sit right with Beomgyu, but he was waiting for the chance to talk with the tall boy alone, far away.

“What kind of spell did you cast that it didn’t miss at all, to make my mother hypnotized by you?”

His voice was just harsh; it did pain him actually not because that guy was different from him, but because it was Soobin. What was special about him, that his mother never cared about anyone but that boy?
