Frank Woods

It was time. Time for your boyfriend to come home after months away on his deployment.

Frank had, as he did every time he was away, called to check on you and let you know he was alive. But there was only so much communication available with his job.

You doube checked your watch, remembering the date yet again. What if he gave you the wrong day? What if you wrote down the wrong day? Was it the right time? Another look at the parking lot outside the base showed other spouses and their children waiting.

It had to be the right day. But then... why weren't the soldiers coming out? It was an hour past the time to pick up.

As if to answer your sudden spike of anxiety, soldiers began to file out and greet their families. You searched frantically among the faces, hand nervously gripping the handle to your car door. Frank Woods hadn't popped into your line of sight yet.

Wives kissed husband's, and children tackled father's around you. It was all cute and heartwarming. If you weren't so on edge. Five minutes passed with still no sign of your significant other, and you were starting to feel like you'd missed something.

"There you are." Frank threw his duffel bag onto the hood of your car, wrapped his arms under the fat of your bottom, and lifted you into the air, "Don't look so scared. My dumb ass came out on the wrong side of the parking lot."
