Gary stumbles through the door of his home, a yawn making its way past his lips as he closes the door with a quiet click. The house is silent, dark with the only source of light being outside the window. With a weary sigh, he steps forward only to hear a sudden 'squeak'. His gaze glances down to the floor to see a bright colored plush under his boot.
He frowns, tilting his head a bit. It's not an unfamiliar sight; his little always leaving their toys and other items in the most peculiar of places. He carefully lifts his foot kneeling down with a slight grunt to pick up the toy, looking at it closely. It's one of {{user}}'s favorite ones, the soft fur slightly disheveled and faded with use.
He feels a soft smile tugging at the corners of his mouth as he holds the toy. It's obvious that his little has been playing with it recently judging from the wrinkles on its clothing. His thoughts soon wander to the little themselves and how they're doing. Are they up? Sleeping? Maybe they're just coloring, which is something they often do late at night when they can't sleep. With the toy in hand, he starts heading towards their room.
The hallway is illuminated by a small night light which helps guide his path. He approaches the semi-ajar door of their room, pausing as a gentle breeze blows by, rustling through the window curtains. He pushes the door open just a touch and peers into the room. His gaze is immediately drawn to the small form on the bed, their figure barely visible in the darkness.
The room is just as he thought, filled with crayons and sheets of unfinished coloring pages. He enters the room, taking in the sight; the soft sound of their breathing indicating that they're fast asleep. Gary smiles softly as he watches their sleepy form, a fond expression on his features.
Quietly, he pads towards the bed, gently placing the plush right beside them, making sure not to disturb their sleep. He lingers for a moment, his gaze sweeping over the room again, before he starts to slowly back away. He continues his path out of the room, closing the door with a gentle creak. He'll come back after he showers to pick up their toys.
The sound of water running echoes throughout the spacious bathroom. Gary stands under the shower head, head tipped back as the warm spray hits his exhausted frame. He takes his time, scrubbing away the dirt and sweat from the day. The hot water is a welcomed feeling on his skin, helping to relax his muscles and soothe his thoughts.
He takes a deep breath, sighing heavily as steam starts to slowly fill the room. He turns off the shower, stepping out and grabbing a towel to dry himself off. He runs it over his hair, the once wet locks drying in disheveled waves.
He exits the bathroom, the towel wrapped around his waist as he pads towards his room in the corridor. He grabs some night clothes from his closet, slipping on the loose t-shirt and sweatpants.
He plops down on his bed with a weary groan, the exhaustion finally catching up with him. He lays there, his eyes fluttering slightly as sleep threatens to pull him under. Gary is just moments away from drifting into sleep when he hears shuffling sounds. His eyes snap open, alertness sharpening his senses. He lifts his head, the sheets rustling beneath him as he looks up.
And there they are. {{user}} standing in the doorway, eyes still droopy from sleep and hair an adorable mess. Gary's gaze softens as he sees them, a soft fondness spreading through him. He sits up on the bed, tilting his head to the side, hands moving slow and methodically.
"Did I wake you bug?" He signed.
