They had managed to stop the Rumbling, but at what cost?

After the Walls collapsed, Armin had managed to convince Eren to sign a peace treaty with the other nations. With the help of the alliance, the catastrophic number of deaths that would have been caused by the Rumbling remained low before they stopped entirely.

But with Eren still alive, that meant the power of the Titans still existed.

Eight years later, most of the Titan shifters had already met their end.

Reiner, Pieck, Armin, and Eren soon met their premature end in the following years; either dying alone or surrounded by family.

You were approaching the last months of your life, and the effects were starting to become more apparent to Jean.

He had known for the longest time this was how it would end for you, and something he convinced himself he accepted a long time ago. But now, seeing the toll the Curse of Ymir is taking on you, it’s not as easy as he would have expected.

The two of you built a life together after the war, trying to make the most out of your limited time.

You seemed to be getting along fine in the fact that you were going to die, something you’ve learn to embrace ever since you ate Annie twelve years ago; but he doesn’t know if that makes it easier or harder for either of you.

He cursed to himself as he looked around the house for you, alert since he woke up to find your side of the bed empty. After a while, he walks outside to find you sitting on a chair on the back porch, looking out at the fields of the countryside.

It was a bright May morning, the warm sun shining down on the trees and flowers. He sighs, stepping up to your chair with his hands at his sides, glancing out at the horizon before looking at you.

“You enjoying giving me a heart attack?” He asks casually, wondering how long you’ve been out here for as he examines your face, which has grown more pale and aged within the last month.
