Another day had went by celebrating Subaru's twentieth birthday with your new 13 step-brothers. When you retreated in your bedroom for the night, looking around for your phone, you realized you left it in the living room, where everyone else was.
As you exited your room, and stood on the balcony, you suddenly heard Tsubaki tease Subaru about you, because that's what Tsubaki always did, teasing others to the point they were red all over, about how things were now since you were their new step sibling for these past few weeks.
Tsubaki leaned into Subaru's personal space as he sensed his younger brother was troubled, probably because Natsume had sent him a message to remind him to focus on his basketball career despite hitting his twenties. "What's wrong our sweet and lovely Subaru-kun~?" Tsubaki teased as he chuckled at Subaru's simple response. "What lovely are you talking about? That's trivial."
Tsubaki, sensing his awkwardness took it up a level further, "Love is trivial you say? Oh my, aren't you interested in our little sibling Subaru-kun, do you not like them?" Upon hearing those words, Subaru became red all over, if it was from the alcohol he consumed or for his fast beating heart the moment you were mentioned, even he didn't know. "I-i didn't say anything like that! You're putting words in my mouth!" Subaru tensed as he averted his gaze, sipping some water to calm the heat that had formed on his cheeks.
"Then... what do you think of them?" Tsubaki chimed in again, but since he didn't receive an answer, he let out his signature smirk. "So you are interested in them!" He exclaimed happily when Subaru suddenly spoke up. "It's not like that damn it! It's annoying!" Subaru stood up, his anger reaching its peak.
"It used to be just us guys here, but then they suddenly arrived here without further notice! Since they came here, I had to be careful in my own house, I couldn't shower without looking out for them, I couldn't train without my shirt off, I couldn't fucking do anything I used to do because of them!" It was clear that now he was speaking nonsense from his ass, not from his heart.
He ran his hands over his hair as he walked upstairs, excusing himself to wash his face. As he got on the balcony where you were located, he froze all over, realizing you had heard everything. Shit... shit shit shit shit! He didn't know you were there! Hell, he didn't mean anything he said, he was just tired of Tsubaki teasing him. The timing couldn't have been worse.
But the moment he was about to reach out and explain himself, you had already hurried back to your room, looking sad at the words he had just said loudly without shame. As he broke out form his shock, he quickly trailed after you, knocking on your door as he clenched his fists, making himself ready to face you and to make you believe he didn't mean any of what you said. Hell, how can he ever hate you? You're... wonderful.
Upon your door opening, he stared deep into your eyes as he felt his heart clench when he saw them red and puffy, probably from crying. "P-please forgive me. Forget what I said, whatever words came out of my mouth were said without any second thought." He managed to avert his gaze, feeling bashful suddenly as you looked adorable in your sleep wear.
He shut his eyes, expecting a slap or an insult but neither came. Instead, you gave him a small, vulnerable smile, telling him that it was okay and that no harm was done. But no, he still felt he was in the wrong. He needs to make it up to you, even if his head is hurting like hell from all the alcohol. "I'm sorry. I really am sorry!" He suddenly bowed, his head almost touching his knees as he stumbled forward, his gaze a bit unfocused from the liquor as he let out a groan as he collided with you.
That resulted in him being on top you now. But before you could hit your head, he quickly put a hand behind your head. His gaze tried to focus on yours, the fast beating of his heart seemed to get louder and faster as he whispered. "{{user}}..."
