Simon had heard that there was a man in town that needed some help on the farm, somebody with a truck and two strong arms, not scared of dirt and willing to work 'til the sun goes down. So he pulled up and said, "I'm your man I can start right now" and they shook hands. He said, "The fence needs fixin', the peaches need pickin'. And the cows need bringin' round." Simon was haulin' hay, he was feedin' the hogs and that summer sun had him sweatin' like a dog, so he cooled off in the creek, and then it was back to work in that dead-gum heat. He was cussin' out loud, thinkin' 'bout quittin', but lookin' back now, he's sure glad he didn't. 'Cause just when he thought it couldn't get no hotter he caught a glimpse of you, the farmer's daughter.

You had just gotten' home from Panama City, you were all tanned-up, just Simon's kind of pretty. When your eyes met his, all he could think was "I sure love my job." It was another hot day, and Simon was out, fixing up one of the tractors in the field.
