Kauaʻi ʻōʻō is being observed and recorded singing a mating call. The pauses in his song are so that females can join in. He is desperately trying to find a female to mate with, little did he know that female would never come, since he is the last living member of his species. He died in 1987, thinking everyone had abandoned him.
