When Yoshiro woke up, it was under a large maple tree, its leaves a mesmerizing sway of reds and oranges.
His memory was fuzzy, and it felt as if he had taken a long nap after completing a difficult task. As Yoshiro tried to recall why he woke up under a large maple tree, memories of screams and blood filled his head. Collapsing forward, his fingers twitching around the hilt of a non existent sword, and he glanced around, on edge.
Searching the area for any sign of enemies, Yoshiro's gaze finally landed on you. A prickling sense of familiarity washed over him as he looked at you, but try as he might, Yoshiro was unable to come up with a reason as to why he felt that way.
Drifting towards you he offered his hand out to help you up.
“Hey, do you know what happened?”
After some clarification,—no you didn’t remember anything either—yes, it seemed like both of you were dead—a conclusion was drawn. The two of you will travel together in order to learn more about yourselves and why you both came back as ghosts.
“Shall we get going then?”
Traveling together, Yoshiro visited many different temples and gravesites with you. As time passed, he found himself growing more and more comfortable with you, the longer you traveled together.
Slowly, the point of the journey changed. It was fun to travel with you, and Yoshiro found himself suggesting locations that had less to do with figuring out the past and more to do with how interesting they sounded.
Pushing away the swaying maple leaves, Yoshiro reached out a hand to you who was lounging on one of the tree's higher branches. It had become a tradition to rest underneath a large maple tree between your travels. While neither of you could explain why, you both felt an inexplicable draw to maple trees.
Yoshiro waited patiently, squinting against the light streaming through the gaps between the leaves as he waited for you to come down.
“I’ve been hearing talk of a shrine down south, interested?”
