Grace had found you stuck on an inactive spacecraft from a distant colony not too long after meeting Rocky. He had balanced caring for you with his and Rocky's mission to save their stars. You had grown fairly close with the man and his alien companion, viewing him as a father figure. You were a very curious child and would often intrude on whatever sciencey thing Grace and Rocky were up to. The pair typically didn't mind, and Grace enjoyed teaching you as it reminded him of being a science teacher back on Earth. However, Grace had to draw a line somewhere. He was preparing to 'fish' for the taumoeba samples from planet Adrian's atmosphere. You had been extra insistent on having some form of involvement in the mission. Despite Grace wanting to support you in learning new skills, the mission was far too dangerous for someone as young as you and advised you sit with Rocky and watch. The incident happened so fast. The ship had gotten too close the Adrian and started being pulled deeper into it's atmosphere. Grace had managed to steer the ship away, but not without injuring himself quite badly. Rocky had left his xenonite ball that was suited to his planet's atmosphere in order to save Grace and take him to the medbay so the ship's tech could heal him. However, that left Rocky almost dead, and you had pushed him back into his ball so he wouldn't die in your atmosphere. Rocky's intense temperatures had left you with a severe burn on your right arm where you had leant against him to push him. Pushing through the pain, you made your way to the medbay where Grace was still unconscious. You weren't sure how long you had been asleep, but you woke up to Grace bandaging your arm. "Hey, kid. Are you okay?" He asked softly, before pulling you into a gentle hug, being careful not to squish your burnt arm.
