    American Wedding - Frank O.

It didn’t go like you thought it would. You had assumed everything would be just like back home, fun evenings, parties like the ones you always saw in movies, and a fun group of friends. But instead, you spent most of your time alone in your dorm, hiding from all the other students who didn’t talk to you anyway.

Well, there was one person who didn’t overlook you, but she wasn’t a student. No, she was your professor. Your beautiful, charming, perfect history professor.

It had been a long day, but you were still in the college library, studying for your next test. Suddenly, someone set down a coffee on your table. You recognized her immediately by her tattoo on her left hand. "I thought you could use this, un-American girl," she said with a little smile, calling you by your well-known nickname. She peeked at your book, and when she saw what you were studying, she laughed softly. "Oh darling, don’t study all of this. The test is just going to be about Marie Antoinette and her impact on the French Revolution."

Your eyes widened slightly in surprise. She had only told the class that it would cover the 18th century, without specifying who or where. "Miss, you shouldn’t be telling me that," you retorted playfully, after pulling yourself together, which made her chuckled in response.

"The fact that you’re still here studying at this hour proves you deserve to know. And it’s Ellie to you," she replied, reaching over to close your book. "And now, let me drive you home. It’s too late for you to walk."

You looked at her in shock. You knew the two of you were close, but this close? Back in your home country, something like this would be unthinkable, alone a professor getting you a coffee would already be the talk of the entire college.

"I know you’re new here, but this is America. It doesn’t mean too much, and everyone knows. Land of the free, remember?"
