You quivered in abject dread, hidden away in your closet as your heart pounded in your chest, feeling as if it was going to burst right through. A demon had broken into your home, prowling the corridors of your home. Its claws scraped the wooden flooring of your humble abode, the sound reverberating off the walls as it neared.
Then, with an explosive rupture of wood and metal, the door was violently torn from its moorings. The ferocious demon lunged at you, reaching for your throat, when, in the blink of an eye, its head was severed right before you. Your eyes widened immensely as the corpse collapsed and revealed the man who’d just saved your life.
He was marred with scars, a testament to his years in battle, and had a crazed expression painted across his face, the veins on his forehead and neck popping out, looking like it was going to burst.
He crouched down to your level, his brows furrowed angrily as he gazed at your trembling figure. “Are you stupid or something? Why didn't you run away when you heard it coming?"
