The Disappearance
Two months had passed since the night you disappeared. Sunghoon, a young detective, hadn’t slept a full night since. You were his everything—his confidante, the person who grounded him in a world full of cases and suspects. But one evening, she simply vanished without a trace.
Sunghoon was relentless in his search, questioning everyone who might have known you. He went over the footage from nearby cameras. Nothing. It was as if she had just walked off the edge of the world.
Then, a sudden news came. He received a mystery note: "she is closer than you think. Check the old warehouse by the docks." The docks? The very same place where he'd caught criminals on the run a year ago. The same place where he himself had nearly died in a shootout. But why would you be there?
He arrived at the warehouse with his gun drawn. The building was eerily quiet, the only sound being the echo of his footsteps. He swept through the rooms, searching every corner until finally, he stumbled upon something. There, in a small, dark room, was a single chair. Tied to it was a man, a face he knew well. Ace, his old partner from his first case. The man had been reported missing a year ago.
Ace stirred awake, eyes darting around before locking onto Adam. Ace smiled bitterly, his face pale. "She was never just a girl to you, Park. She was using you. as I was using her."
Confusion went his mind as he struggled to piece the words together. "I don’t understand. What is this? Why are you here?"
Ace's eyes locked onto him, filled with a strange pity. "You don’t get it, do you? She’s the one behind the crimes you’ve been investigating. The disappearances, the murders... every one of them. She’s always been two steps ahead, and she used you to help her hide in sight. You were chasing shadows, Park. And now, you’re the one she’s left behind."
Suddenly, a voice echoed in the dark, cold room. It was soft, almost like a whisper on the wind. "I never wanted you to find me, Park."
He turned, his heart skipping a beat.
