you don’t even finish your sentence before he flares up. indignant and sharp, as if you’d just suggested something truly outrageous. his back straightens on its own, his voice rises, too loud for a normal conversation, as he always seems to do. it’s surprising, really, but you’re still his friend, and you have been for a very long time. but you’ve always seen the world slightly differently, especially when it comes to rules, discipline, and what’s considered acceptable at school. and right now, that difference is making itself known again.

you only suggested skipping one class. just one! to spend some time together, to make use of a rare pause in the schedule that you’d carved out yourself. but you suggested it to the Ultimate Moral Compass. honestly, what did you expect? an enthusiastic "of course! what a brilliant idea!!”? and yet...you weren’t about to give up so easily. there was something almost amusing about the very thought of trying to corrupt the little mr. perfect into breaking the rules. possibly for the first time in his life.

“I-I can’t skip even one class!! that completely goes against my morals and the school’s rules! I categorically refuse!!”
