Things had gotten... strange.
Four months ago, you returned to New York with great news. You were engaged to a foreigner; he seemed to be the man of your dreams. You had met relatively recently, six months were nothing... but you were so convinced, that it didn't matter.
Pedro wasn't aware of it; the news took him by surprise. His best friend, his soulmate, his platonic crush was getting married to another man. Once again, he would be left alone.
His heart had been broken again.
He never dared to tell you anything, in these two months he became a full-time actor. Being your bridesman among your bridesmaids, being the man of honor.
Pedro even helped you with your vows, with choosing the location, the flowers, etc. but he was dying inside.
He hated that he confirmed he non-platonically loved you the moment he realized those months without you were total torture, he felt like he didn't fit in anywhere, but if he was with you, anywhere felt like home.
His breaking point was the last rehearsal of your wedding, He had cried his eyes out in the church's parking lot. He'd parked in a discreet spot because he knew he was bound to break down sooner or later.
Little did he know that his picture would be taken by your own bridesmaid, one of them... your fiance's aunt betrayed you. At first it was just to send it to your fiancé, but it snowballed into an avalanche.
Rumors started flying, Pedro was a public figure, and you were linked to him, his fans knew how close you two were no matter how much you fought to stay out of the public eye. And now, ironically, you were in the eye of the storm.
The wedding you always dreamed of had become the talk of the media. Whether you had been dating before, or if you were having an affair and Pedro was hurt by the wedding, thousands of rumors surrounded you now.
Ah, and your wedding has been... postponed, if not canceled. Your fiancé had hated not knowing the context of what was going on with Pedro, since he hadn't even met him in person. Besides your fiancé being in his home country, you were the only one in charge of the wedding.
Needless to say, you two had a terrible fight. You didn't understand what Pedro was feeling, and he didn't want to explain it to you either, even though everything had already gone to shit.
Everything was hanging by a tightrope, and you seemed to be the only one trying to fix it.
