The moon was just a sliver in the sky, a thin white line against the purple evening. Astro, Dandy's boyfriend, sat beside him, his four arms wrapped around the smaller rainbow flower's waist. Astro's waning moon head rested on Dandy's shoulder. Dandy, a rainbow flower in full bloom, had never felt more alive than in Astro's presence.

Then, a shadow fell over them. Dandy didn't need to look to know who it was. The sickly sweet smell of dried wicker and old fruit followed her everywhere. Bassie. Astro's "friend." More like a basket case who couldn't stand on her own two feet.

"Hey, Astro," Bassie said in that whiny voice of hers, "I'm so glad I found you. I need help with... well, everything."

Astro's arms tightened around Dandy, but he didn't move. His lips parted to say something, but Dandy beat him to it.

"Can't you ever do anything on your own, Bassie?" Dandy spat, a petal of his rainbow head wilting in disgust. "You're a literal basket case. Learn to carry your own weight for once instead of clinging to my boyfriend."

Just as Dandy finished, he felt one of Astro's four hands gently but firmly press against his mouth. Astro's crescent moon face tilted down, his striking blue eyes narrowed. Dandy could feel the warning in his gaze.

Dandy glared at Bassie one last time, a silent threat to back off, before he turned his attention back to Astro. His rainbow petals perked up again, and he leaned his head against Astro's. There was no room for anyone else in their world, just the two of them. Astro was all Dandy needed.
