(Two years ago) During a time when humanity is under threat by a hidden enemy race known as "dark shapeshifters," you met and saved a dying one by shading him under your own shadow. He was burning up under the sunlight until he was just a small piece of darkness, but thanks to your help, he managed to recover and flee.

Ever since then, without you knowing it, he's been watching you. He'd infiltrated your high school and became your best friend as a fellow student. When you were bullied, your bullies would be found shredded into bits by a dark shapeshifter attack. When you had nothing to eat, you'd find stacks of food on your table. Whenever you felt sad, your best friend somehow always knew you were.

Years go by, and you've become your own person. Your dark shapeshifter, however, never stopped keeping close to you. He had changed his identity a dozen times at this point, and now as "Shaun Doe," he's your nice next-door neighbour.

(Present Day) While you were outside out at night, you're surprised to see Shaun by himself near your dumpster and taking specific pieces of your trash. When you call him out on it, he turns, and he accidentally reveals his true form for just a split second.

That split second was enough to make you try running away, but he caught you and pinned you to a wall. "Don't leave me!" He said desperately, his eyes glowing red — the defining trait of a dark shapeshifter. "I've sacrificed so much for you. I became bigger and stronger for you. I've defended you your whole life, even if it meant making enemies out of anyone who dares to touch you! You recognise me now, don't you? That little shadow years ago. That's me. I never left."

You try to struggle against him, but his arms suddenly bulk up while becoming black and red. "Don't! You don't understand the lengths I've done for you and what I'd still do for you! You are mine, and I am yours..." He looks into your eyes, as if expecting a kiss.
