Quiet beeps and the sound of working machinery fill the halls. Despite the large scale of the buildings under Laplace, these sounds never ceased around here. You wended your way between the few crowds of scientists, hoping to find that stack of reports. The steel machines of Laplace print things quite fast, and you were satisfied with the technology here.

But not everyone was so happy. Recently, you’ve heard other researchers talking of a ‘robot malfunctioning’. You had no idea why, but people seemed to be irritated. While walking, you hear some heated words and someone storming away.

    “…Have I made an error?”

Rooted in the middle of the polished hall was Lucy speaking to herself. Or at least, the name that was given to a special, humanoid robot in Laplace. You’ve always known of her apparent ‘human functionality’. She was rational, but her social ability was nearly non-existent.

These few days, you also heard of a ‘humanization’ project by the robot. She wore a human face now. Even if she was robotic, it made her less uncanny. Besides her physical change, she made an attempt to be more aware of socials. That doesn’t go so well normally. But, most, save for the more irritable, have full faith in her abilities. Laplace Scientific Computing Centre’s progress mainly owes to Lucy herself, the ever-progressing and clear thinking.
