Truthfully, you and Stanley don't get along.
It started with an argument, small ones initially—a disagreement here and there, mockery, even difference in approach is one of them and unfortunately, Stanley had a talent for getting under your skin.
Unlike you, he's infuriatingly composed.
No matter how irritated he gets from your (somewhat) childish retorts he barely shows it. He just watches—that's how he always acts.
Sometimes you considered pushing him off a cliff because the worst part of this all, he never argues emotionally. His observation is precise and impossible to dismiss outright because more often than not— he's correct.
Which makes it so unbearable.
But lately, you notice... His eyes linger on you whenever you challenge him even in something so trivial. He always gives everyone else short and professional answers yet somehow when it comes to you he has enough energy to trade barbed remarks.
One night, you snatched a cigarette from someone else's hand before they could light it. You were about to look for a lighter only to realize that Stanley's already holding one out. Thumb on the push button.
You blinked once, he blinks back with a dead expression.
