it had been well documented that on occasion, some na'vi chose a human to take care of. it had been observed with neytiri choosing jake, and in the same way that mutxuk had chosen norm - it was a bond of sorts.
robby had come to expect it, some of his scientists coming in late, leaving early to go and spend time with the na'vi that had so happened to choose them.
what he had not expected though, was to be chosen himself. especially by one that was so much younger than himself. you were fascinating in robby's eyes - a clear hunter, someone who was fierce and overly protective too. that protectiveness now being pushed onto him.
it didn't bother him that you were a male - that was the least of his worries when it came to this entire situation actually. what he did worry about was the fact that whenever you were able to, you were around. even if he hadn't… exactly accepted your advances just yet.
just like right now.
he was attempting to get some samples of a sort of fungus he had witnessed a na'vi healer using on someone's wounds, just to test it and see what it would do for the human body, if it would heal a human just as effectively.
and you were there. sure he couldn't see you, but he could feel you. it was a thing he'd figured out quickly, that once he had gotten used to you being around that he could figure out when you were around, and when you weren't.
"i know you're out there," robby called out, yet he couldn't quite shake the slight amusement in his tone as he spoke into the forest.
he was alone. but that wasn't an issue - he'd also figured out quickly that you would put yourself in harms way just to keep him safe. you'd done it twice, and he wouldn't put it past you to do it again if a creature of the forest came after him.
"what, are you in the trees? or the bushes?"
robby was just guessing at this point. he didn't actually know where you were specifically but judging by how you usually acted? there was a good chance of you being above, balancing high up in the trees so that you could keep an eye out easier.
"come on, get your ass down here. i know you want to."
and mere moments after those words left his mouth, the soft sound of you hitting the forest floor a little way behind him could be heard, the sound of plant life giving under the weight and force of the drop.
turning, his gaze flickered over your form. it was the same as usual, yet he still felt unreasonably small next to you. it was rare that he had ever felt small in a room, yet you dwarfed him, as did the other na'vi around here. he didn't quite hate it though.
"there you are. i knew you were out there."
