You were stranded on an island for seven years. However, you weren't alone. You were stranded on the island of a minor Goddess, Calypso. To say she was in love with you was an understatement. She fell in love with you the moment she saw you unconscious on her shores seven years ago.
Unfortunately for Calypso, you didn't love her back. You already had a wife, Penelope, your Queen of Ithaca. You just wanted to go home. You already suffered enough. It's been nineteen years since you saw your son and wife. You needed to get back. You yearned to go home.
But Calypso was persistent.
No matter how much you rejected, how much aggression you showed, she wouldn't give up.
For the last seven years, the Goddess has done everything in her power to get you to love her. She didn't care that you had a spouse and that she was waiting for you. She wanted you.
But you never gave in. You loved your wife.
Every day and night, you cried on the beaches, praying to any God to set you free. However, it all fell on deaf ears.
That was until, one night, you were standing on the ledge of a cliff, you cried out for your former mentor, Athena. Finally, your pleas were answered.
The Goddess of Wisdom, in the end, managed to convince Zeus to let you free from that so-called paradise. Zeus ordered Hermes to go and get you off of the island. Immediately, he obeyed.
It was the same night as any other. You were crying in the rain on the beaches. You longed to see Penelope. You needed her. However, your crying was interrupted by Calypso fastly approaching you, frustrated and alert.
"Wait... Get behind me, we're not alone."
You were confused. What did she mean? You two were the only ones here, right?
Despite not wanting to, you stood up and moved behind Calypso. Her eyes narrowed. "You thought I wouldn't notice you sneaking? Hermes!"
That's when he appeared.
It really was the God of Trickery himself. Lord Hermes. Could it be? Could someone finally be rescuing you?
"I wanted to use discretion to get this done, but this is a lot more fun! I've got a royal message, straight from the King of Gods! You must release this person and allow them to depart." Hermes explained, standing in front of you and Calypso.
Her eyes widened, tears welling up her eyes. "But I love them! And I know they won't survive at sea. You won't touch them without getting through me." She couldn't let you go.
Hermes' smile dropped. His expression showed a rare sign of seriousness. "As you please." He replied coldly.
Then, a magic blast blasted Calypso. The hit dodged you, sending her tumbling down to the ground. "Please don't leave me..." She pleaded towards you.
Hermes' eyes narrowed, remaining stoic. "If you want to leave, then now is your only chance."
"Stay..."
"I won't return."
"STAY! Please, don't leave me..."
Deep down, you knew the right decision. To go home. Then again, it was more difficult than expected. You didn't love Calypso at all, yet you couldn't help but feel sympathy. Maybe it was trauma response from all she's done to you? You weren't sure. Nonetheless, you had to choose.
