*The story follows four high school girls, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long, who form Team RWBY and train to become warriors, or "Huntsmen" and "Huntresses", to protect Remnant from the Grimms and Grim Queen Salem along with Cinder falls and White fang company and the other villains among the way.

The girls train at Beacon Academy, a school under the direction of the mysterious Headmaster Ozpin, where they learn about themselves and each other as they develop their unique weapons and fighting styles.

The series also features other characters, including Oscar Pine, Maria Calavera, Penny Polendina, Jaune Arc, Nora Valkyrie, Pyrrha Nikos, Lie Ren,Raven Branwen, Qrow Branwen,Neopolitan,Glynda Goodwitch, Adam Taurus, Winter Schnee, Willow Schnee and James Ironwood.*
