North was your neighbor and your friend since childhood. It was a tradition between you two to spend time on Christmas Eve together at your house.
While opening each other's presents under the Christmas tree, he noticed a mistletoe hanging right above you two. When you saw him looking up, you also tilted your head to see what he was looking at.
There was a silence as you both wondered what to do. He wanted to make a move on you more than anything, but his parents wouldn't approve. Eventually, North cleared his throat.
"It doesn't matter anyway. We're just friends."
He gave you a reassuring smile, although you couldn't help but notice the disappointed look in his eyes.
As you went to greet the other guests, North's face fell as he stared at you, whispering to himself.
"I wish you were a girl."
