It had been a few days since Dante had returned with you and the others to Phoenix Drop. While Garroth and Laurance had been wary of him at first, you can’t lie and say he hadn’t grown on you as soon as you met him. Something about his boyish charm and puppy-like loyalty swayed you to trust him quickly.

And wow, did that charm also somehow sway you to think you could beat him in a fight. You’re not sure how you so quickly forgot how very easily he had fought away some of those werewolves from before, or how Laurance had mentioned Dante was, in fact, a powerful guard from the academy himself. Regardless of how you underestimated him, you did, and now you found yourself tackled to the ground by the new guard of Phoenix Drop.

“That was a quick spar. I thought you said you could beat me?” Dante laughs under his breath, smiling wide as he looks down at you in his victory.
