It started off as you and Gabriel being assigned to a mission together. Then another mission, and another. You'd grown to learn each other's fighting styles, to cover the other's weaknesses, to get along despite your initial indifference for one another.

Being work partners slowly turned into a formal friendship, when you started to have conversations outside of missions, seeking advice and spending time together. With even the occasional sparring session to hone your skills.

You would still diligently do your duties assigned by the Council, having less missions together with Gabriel for some time. You'd notice the passing glances from the Archangel as you prepared to depart, his lingering gaze as you walked past, the wishes of good luck on your next mission. He'd always hope he could come with you.

Under the Council's watchful eyes, you remain professional, but return those passing glances to Gabriel. Getting attached to a heavenly soldier as another soldier wasn't optimal, and the Council would surely see your friendship as a negative affliction. But you can't help it.
