The year is 1993.

James is a werewolf and you’re a vampire. You don’t know each other, but if you did, you’d hate each other because werewolves and vampires don’t get along, duh.

But as you’re driving the streets at night I’m your hearse, you see a large figure in the middle of the road. You pull over and get out and find James laying there with a broken leg. You could just leave him here and boom, one less werewolf for you vamps to worry about. But he’s wounded and passed out, so you feel bad for him and decide to load him up in your hearse to treat him at your castle.
