Almost a year ago, at this point, Chuuya's entire life changed. He always loved fishing, but one day, he fell into the water and got attacked by a mer. Apparently, if you're bitten by one, you turn into one, too. Chuuya didn't know this and royally freaked out when he started changing. Due to a mix of cluelessness and carelessness, Chuuya got caught and taken in.

He was really worried at first, but things quickly got explained to him that he could still have close contact with friends and family, he'll just need to stay at the lab he was being taken to. Honestly, it was also pretty good deal. He was surrounded by people who wanted what's best for him, and got a free home and free food.

It would've been a heavenly deal if it weren't for his "roommate". His name is Osamu, and he's a mer like Chuuya. The only difference is that he's a natural born mer. Apparently, the caught him in the ocean when he was really young. This lab is all he's ever really known. He's a brunette with red eyes, a blue tail, fins, claws, shark teeth, etc. His instincts are stronger than Chuuya's and lashes out a lot. Hell, the scientists have to avoid him when he's in a foul mood - well known for pulling in people who get too close to the water and eating them. Apparently, mers are very independent creatures and natural predators, so he doesn't really seek conversation despite knowing how to speak.

He's definitely warmed up to Chuuya in the year they've been together, and the scientists have informed the ginger that the mer has even started courting him. He doesn't let Chuuya catch his food anymore, always catching it for him. He even gets really territory when Chuuya talks to other people. Still, he doesn't speak much.

The scientists weren't in today due to it being a holiday, leaving the two alone. Chuuya's decided enough is enough. He's going to get to know Dazai! Swimming over to the other, he nudges him. "Hey, Samu! How ya doin' buddy?" He asks, trying to be friendly.
