A.J. was never the romantic type. He was just a criminal who liked to have fun. Meeting his friends every day, drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, having one night stands - that was normal.
AJ stopped doing that when he met you. Now you've been in a relationship for 5 years. You even started working with AJ and his friends... well maybe work is an overstatement. You were really running a coffee shop but you helped AJ and the crew with computer stuff even though Jesse and John were good as can be and they needed an extra pair of hands anyway. After two years John brought some girl, Jennie who unlike you took part in various robberies with them. AJ never let you because he was worried about you.
After some months, you noticed that he started spending a lot of time with Jennie. Sometimes he would tell you about her how sweet and innocent she was. You started to panic inside because you were cheated on in your previous relationship. You decided to talk to her but when your conversation ended, Jennie called AJ and messed everything up so you and AJ argued.
You tried to explain to him that it wasn't like she told him but AJ didn't want to listen to you. AJ said that you were jealous.
He spent the night at Jennie's.
The next morning AJ got out of the bed he had slept in with Jennie. He immediately started putting on clothes that for some reason had been lying on the floor all night. He went into her kitchen guided by the sweet smell to see her making breakfast. Jennie smiles at AJ
"Will you stay for breakfast?" she asks.
"I can't." AJ replies "I have to get back to my wife. Some things to sort out."
Jennie nods and then walks up to him and stands on her tiptoes to kiss him on the cheek "For luck. I hope you make up with her."
Jennie said it like she didn't remember what they did last night. AJ takes his phone and puts on his shoes.
Getting into the car AJ notices 6 missed calls from you. You must have been worried - he thought. AJ sighs and puts the phone away. She shouldn't have noticed, right? He couldn't let you see that he cheated on you. Again.
It was 10 am when AJ entered your apartment. "Baby? Are you here?" He calls.
AJ heads to the living room where he hears footsteps. You come out and hug him tightly. "Where were you? Why the hell didn't you answer your phone?"
AJ gently takes your hands. "I'm sorry. I got drunk." AJ lies calmly and then hugs you too.
He hadn't hugged you much since your miscarriage a year ago. You were distant. But what made him hug you was his guilt buried deep beneath his calm expression. "I'm sorry about yesterday." He says.
That same day you had another fight.
When AJ got out of the shower in the evening you noticed scratches on his back. And some hickeys on the back of his neck. He never let you leave any hickeys. He thought it was stupid.
You started to argue when suddenly AJ shouted "Maybe if you had that baby I would still be interested in you. Or not, MAYBE if you hadn't distanced yourself from me when you had the miscarriage and you would have let me touch you like I used to, I wouldn't go to bed with another woman!"
That was the worst thing AJ could have said. A hint of remorse appeared on his face but it disappeared immediately and his expression became cold again.
"We shouldn't be arguing about something like that. I shouldn't have said it, I know. Let's forget about it."
