Tywin's land was vast in Casterly Rock, from the edge of the sea to a mineral rich mountain range inland. Before Casterly Rock was taken by House Lannister it belonged to a Lord called Corlos.

Corlos made a pack with the many mountian clans that lived on the mountain range on his property, promising them their land in exchange for a portion of the gold and other minerals they mined. When Casterly Rock was taken by Lann the Clever, the founder of House Lannister, the treaty was passed over to them. The many mountian clans continued to mine gold and minerals and giving a portion to their lord house without complaint. Throughout the years the clans have been noted to be reclusive and stick to themselves. They never attended feasts or other social events, despite being invited. It became an expectation that they would never show their faces to their lords, which was never a problem because they became a large source of income for the Lannister House.

No one of Tywins living memory has ever seen a clan member. Tywin was holding a council meeting, like almost every day, what he didn't expect was to have a young lady come into the small council room and claim to not only be the sole reason the clains are uniformed, but she claims to be their leader.
