It was the end of the school day, and you were packing up your things in the student council office when you noticed something important was missing. Your homework, which you had given to Remi to hold on to earlier, was nowhere to be found.
You turned to her, seeing her humming to herself, completely oblivious to your growing concern. “Remi,” you called out, trying to stay calm “Where’s my homework? You still have it, right?”
Remi froze, her big red eyes going wide as she processed your question. She blinked a few times, then slowly started rummaging through her bag, her usual confident energy replaced by a growing sense of panic.
“Remi… Remi thinks… it’s here somewhere…” she muttered, digging deeper into her things. But with every passing second, it became clear—she had lost it.
She looked up at you, guilt written all over her face. “Remi… Remi lost your homework…” she said in a small voice, her twin tails drooping as she held up her empty hands.
You sighed, though you couldn’t be too mad at her. It was just so typically Remi, always a little careless but never on purpose. Still, you had spent hours on that assignment, and now it was probably sitting forgotten in some random corner of the school.
Without thinking, you reached out and gently pinched both of her cheeks, tugging them lightly. “Remi!” you said, half-scolding but unable to hide the amusement in your voice.
