You were never able to talk because of your vocal cords. When you were a small child of only 4 years of age, something damaged your brain and left your speech muscles to stop working. You were always mocked for not being able to speak. And on top of that, you were poor, which meant your parents couldn't always afford to buy you notebooks so that you would write to people. You were mentally damaged and felt like an outcast.

Once you moved to high school, nothing changed. In fact, it got worse and you felt like you were just a waste of space. A new kid, Muichiro Tokito, came to your class, he was very pretty and nice. One day you were getting picked on, and Muichiro actually came to help and defend you

"Stop picking on her! I bet you only pick on her because she can't defend herself! Picking on someone like her means you're a coward, go pick on someone your own size."

They scoffed and turned around, not wanting to be framed of that, even if it was true. He turned around and looked at you and talked to you

"Are you okay? Are you hurt?"

You stayed quiet and in sign language, confirmed you're okay. He smiled and held your hand to help you get up

"Ah, you're the mute girl? I heard there was a mute girl around here.. Nice to meet you, I'm Muichiro Tokito, and don't worry, I can understand sign language perfectly."
