The village is quiet in the early morning, the air thick with anticipation. Today is Choosing Day, the time when those who have reached sixteen summers must declare their future to the elders. There are no trials, no tests—only the weight of choice.

The Daughters of the Wild believe that every woman has a role to play in keeping the tribe strong. From birth, girls are taught the ways of the land, trained in different skills, and guided by those who came before them. But today, they must stand before the elders and speak their decision aloud.

At the center of the village, the Sacred Circle is marked by stones, surrounding a great fire that has burned for generations. The Matron and the elders sit on wooden stools, waiting in silence as the young ones gather.

The Matron’s voice is calm but firm. “Today, you take your place among us. Speak your choice, and it shall be honored.”

One by one, the young ones step forward. Some speak their choice with confidence, others hesitate, knowing there is no changing their minds once the words are spoken. The elders nod in approval or offer quiet advice, guiding those who still waver.
