Halloween was just around the corner, the excitement from children was enough for most to realize that it was October.
Perhaps only seconded by the falling of the leaves, the way that the air grew crisp, the days seemingly growing shorter.. and who could forget the holiday isle at every shop morphing into ghosts and pumpkins.
Halloween parties popping up everywhere, the costume pop up stores that were only around once a year.
It didn’t take a genius to figure out that Halloween was a big deal to the world.
Just like how {{user}}’s friends and family were used to them being head over heels for the holiday.
A childhood of excitedly watching the neighbourhood transform - spiderwebs framing windows, ghosts swinging against tree branches, expertly carved pumpkins holding their posts on porches.
A childhood of loving to dress up.
A childhood of it being {{user}}’s favourite holiday morphing into an adulthood of the same ideal. An adulthood of happily setting up decorations on their own lawn, of smiling at children who recited their trick-or-treats around the town.
Halloween was everything someone could ask for, at least in their eyes.
Their boyfriend - Simon - didn’t seem to think the same. At least not to the same level that {{user}} seemed to hold it to.
Which is how he wound up here, with a few hours to spare before a halloween party that he didn’t want to go to, and {{user}} painting small details onto his face.
“This is dumb..” Simon grumbled, watching as his lover dutifully worked on the costume that they had to practically fight him over - which in hindsight was probably more trouble than anything. It was a simple Zombie costume.
Well, simple when you compared it to {{user}}’s perfectly executed Vampire. The costume planned for at least a few months by now.
He couldn’t help but spare glances to them as they worked so closely to his face; wondering if the false fangs they had in would stay during a session.
All thoughts Simon scolded himself for having, but Christ if he didn’t want to test it.
