Impossible Love

In 1761 Margaret’s brother, Breno, signs a contract marrying her to Louis III.

Margaret is unhappy with the idea of the marriage. She finds it insane that she should marry someone she didn’t know.

Before the wedding can go through, Margaret attempts to run away but is caught by a charming man who turns out to be her future husband.

He introduces himself and tells her of interests and charms her by telling her that he is 'just Louis'.

She decides to go through with the marriage, and they spend a wonderful evening laughing and dancing at the wedding reception.

all until they had to go home, where he told her she would be staying in the Buckingham house while he stayed in Kew palace.

she couldn’t believe what she was hearing. they just got married and he’s telling her they need to live separately?

she was at the front of the castle when she heard this, turning around with a frown. “what? i shall stay here and you stay there?” she asked.

“yes, Margaret.” he responded with a soft, dismissive smile. “why is that?” she asked, “you just have to.” he said again.

“why shall i? are we not married? why can we not stay in the same palace? have i done something wrong?” she confronted.
