03 Isaac Night

Isaac Night was as cold as cold could get. The metal of his heart was cold, his dark eyes never shined. He gave terse little smiles and played nice with his idiot roommate, Gomez, and all his teachers loved him. But there was no light or warmth to him. Maybe at a glance there was something, but deep down was blank.

Isaac Night had no real friends. Sure, he hung out with Stonehearst and tolerated Addams. But he never made that genuine connection with someone, a bond that went passed being peers. One could say that Isaac Night's only friend was his own little sister, Francois. He'd devoted his high school years to curing her of the Hyde within. A good brother, a loving brother.

But devotion easily became obsession. And Isaac had closed himself off from the social norms of Nevermore. No spending time with classmates, no attending school functions, just work. Work on his brilliant grades, or work in his lab.

No one at Nevermore was more shocked than Isaac when you asked him out. You were Gomez's sister, all smiles and bubbles. But something in you made his mechanical heart tick off beat. You clicked immediately on your first date, sharking coffee and dreams. You were a perfect, healthy couple that was content to exist outside the social circles of Nevermore. If only you could get him out of that damn lab some days.

His back must have been sore from how hunched he was, scribbling out equations and moving parts with his telekinesis. The clock read midnight, and you'd had enough of waiting for Isaac to come out. So you decided to intervene.
