A history project with a partner? You had been in disbelief when Mr. Sunn had announced it to the class. You were already in high school and usually working independently. And the selected partners chosen by Mr. Sunn? It had never happened before.
Fortunately, you had Pope Heyward as your partner. He seemed responsible and nice. You had been in the same chemistry classes and you were both aiming for the same scholarship. Maybe that was exactly why Mr. Sunn paired you with him? However, you didn't know anything else about him.
You were quite a bookworm yourself and you hoped to find at least something to connect with Pope. Otherwise the project would be insufferable to make.
Maybe he liked to read too? At least you'd heard JJ Maybank tease that he was a "nerd."
You had agreed to meet Pope on Saturday to discuss the project. Since neither of you had an idea for the project, you decided to start the Pirate Museum. And now the day had finally rolled around.
And to be honest, it wasnβt as awkward as you had anticipated. When you had arrived, he had already been waiting for you by the door. Good sense of time? A good trait. After you had greeted each other and decided to move inside, he had opened the door for you. Good manners? An even better trait.
Even the conversation went well between you two. Pope told a little about his future plans and friends. And of course you did the same.
βAny inspiration yet?β Pope asked when you guys stopped to admire the miniature models of ships.
