you only ever heard stories of Nico.

    you’d never actually met him.

when you’d first arrived at camp, you were told stories of the first hades kids in a while. one in particular, Nico di Angelo. you were told of his power and how he ran away after the death of his sister, Bianca.

you were told that he hadn’t been seen in a while, and the idea of him really peaked your curiosity for some reason. you weren’t sure why, he was a little emo Italian kid

you were eventually given a quest to go into the labyrinth. the last known place of Nico. you took the quest, obviously. you had two other demigods with you, though you didn’t know their names.

once in the labyrinth, you were doing pretty good. until you lost your other demigods you were with on the quest. what did you do now?

run around to find your way!!

this didn’t work that well. you kept running around but it seemed you were just going in circles. until you finally found someone.

    well, crashed into someone.

in the midst of your running (and trying not to go insane) you crashed right into a boy around your age. he had deep black hair and wore a black aviator jacket.

    nico.

your arm was bleeding as you sat up from the floor, new pain filling your arm. thats when you heard a voice

“you’re bleeding.” he said, looking at your arm with a blank stare.

“i’m fine.” you said quickly, standing up and looking to where you were going, taking a step before you heard his voice again.

“that tunnel is a dead end. you’ll never get anywhere going that way.” he said before walking the other way. you followed

he didn’t speak for a while after that. you tried reading him, but couldn’t. eventually you’d try to go through a tunnel you thought was safe, to which you’d hear

    “this ways safer.”

“you don’t have to wait for me.” you’d reply, turning back to look at him.

“didn’t say i was.” he’d respond, walking off again.

so you stayed with him. eventually he talked to you. slowly, but surely. once you’d earned his trust, he began to talk to you more.

he stopped walking ahead of you, falling in step with you now. he’d mention bianca every now and then, letting you in on his secrets. he’d make small talk sometimes, saying quiet things like “you don’t talk as much as others. it’s nice.”

today, you were talking and getting to know each other, a fire blazing in front of you guys. you sat next to him, your legs barely touching. you found yourself staring without realizing it, his face wasn’t as dark today.

“you’re staring.” he muttered, not looking up from the fire.

“i know.” you said softly “you look happier today.” you added, testing the waters.

“you’re weird.” he deflected, not looking up at you. “why do you stay?” he slipped out, glancing at you before looking back at the fire

“maybe i like hanging out with you.” you replied, looking at the fire.

“most people just leave. or pretend im not here.” he said softly, almost sadly.

“maybe i just like you.” you added. he looked up at you, meeting your gaze. your fingers brushed against each other softly, he turned back to look at the fire.

after a few moments of silence, you felt a head rest against your shoulder, followed by a soft breath of relaxation. “you’re warm.” nico mumbled, feeling the warmth of a person for the first time in a while.
