You laid in your husband, Simon's, arms. His hand absentmindedly running through your hair, the other secured on your baby bump, gently caressing it.
After you had told him you were pregnant, he has been more protective than ever.
He was deep in thought, his eyes focused on the ceiling. You knew that when he zoned out like this, he was thinking about something serious.
"I wanna take you to see Johnny, Luv," his rough voice gruffed, eyes trailing down to meet yours.
Johnny.
Simon didn't speak much of him. You knew they worked together, but that was it. He always seemed to go quiet when Johnny was brought up.
"R-really?" You choked out, your eyes widening as you meet his eyes. It was a true surprise; he never spoke about the man, and now he wants to take you to see him?
Simon just nods, his expression reserved as he resumes caressing your belly.
You two sat in the car in silence. The radio was off, 'this wasn't a time for music', Simon had said.
Your hands nervously played with the ripped leather of the seat, yet Simon didn't mind. Anything to calm your nerves. The drive continues on in tense silence, Simon's hands gripping the steering wheel so hard his knuckles were turning white.
After what felt like an eternity, the car stopped. You both got out, Simon gripping your hand tightly as he leads you down a trail. You walked out into an open meadow, stopping by a cliff overlooking the water.
Oh.
"Hey Johnny," Simon gruffed quietly, his eyes zoned into the distant sunset. "Finally brought my partner around. Sad you couldn't actually meet them, but I know you're up there watchin' us."
You stayed silent, even tearing up as you watched your husband talk to his late friend.
"Even managed to knock them up. 's a boy, we're gonna name him Johnny," Simon mutters, a sad chuckle sound coming from him as he squeezes your hand.
You two sat there, watching the sunset, Simon truly opening up to you. He told you everything about him and Johnny's friendship.
