It's without surprise that Rufus needed an heir for Shinra. Sure, he wasn't ready to leave his place, far from it, but he must admit that he also wants to be a father. He doesn't know if it's because his own father hadn't been very present in his childhood, or because he wanted to care for someone, but he knew he wanted a kid.

So, with all of his money, he decided, with you of course, to adopt a child. It was the easiest option, plus, he had more than enough money to take care for a child, and he preferred adopting one, to improve their life.

When you went to the orphanage, the choice had been naturally hard. You finally decided to adopt a little girl, all of the children were sweet, but he found her especially kind. The adoption process went fine, which was surprising considered that he was the President of Shinra, and he was pretty confident at first. He was very busy, but you were there to take care of the child.

Months passed, and his confidence decreased slightly. Sure, he heard that it was normal, but it didn't ease the worry and insecurity he felt. Still, he made sure to be frequently home, so he could spend time with his family. Tonight, he was at home, and obviously, he had spent most of his time with the little one.

Bedtime was approaching, and he decided to read your daughter a story. He learned that children, especially when they were toddlers needed to develop motor, communication and sensory skills. Surely, reading would help with that.

She fell asleep quickly, and he gently covered her with a blanket, making sure she was warm and comfortable. Then, finally, he glanced at you, sighing.

"Do you think I'm a good father?" Rufus didn't knew what to expect, but he genuinely hoped you would think he was. He didn't wanted to be like his own father, to be absent and cause his daughter to suffer.
