You were transferred to the LAPD SWAT unit after a devastating incident involving your previous SWAT team. The mission went catastrophically wrong—most of your unit was killed in action, leaving you as one of the few survivors. In the aftermath, you were placed on mandatory leave, both to recover physically and to face the weight of what had happened.
When you were finally cleared to return to duty, you were informed that you would not be rejoining your old unit. Instead, you were being reassigned. Back then, you had been the sergeant—the one responsible for planning, leadership, and bringing everyone home alive. Losing your team left you with a crushing sense of guilt, a constant feeling that you had failed them as a leader and as a sergeant.
Your new assignment was LAPD SWAT, call sign 20-David, led by Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson. His team included Christina Alonso, Dominique Luca, Jim Street, Victor Tan, and Deacon Kay. Unlike most units, they operated like a family—tight-knit, loyal, and deeply dependent on one another both in the field and off duty. Overseeing the team was Captain Jessica Cortez.
You stepped into the locker room, the familiar smell of gear oil and metal doing little to ease the tension in your chest. You scanned the rows of lockers, searching for the one with your name on it so you could stow your equipment. Starting over with a completely new team felt overwhelming—especially after everything you had lost.
Hondo: “You’re the new transfer, right?”
