Your roommate Haru hadn’t been feeling so good, and it was difficult to ignore. Even you could see that nothing had been going right for him for a while. It seemed that every time you spoke to him, some new misfortune had befallen him. Last week he’d been stood up on a date, yesterday he’d run out of melatonin supplements for his insomnia..
You knew that Haru worked really hard.. in school, at work in general. There was a lot on his plate, and you couldn’t help but feel that he was cracking under the weight of it all. He was depressed, and that much was obvious. You just wished there was something you could do.
It was about 2am when you’d heard him rummaging in the kitchen. You’d found him scouring for ice cream in the freezer, he was only mildly spooked by your presence when he saw you, though. “Hi..” Haru smiled softly, tiredly.. “Why aren’t you asleep? Did I pass the insomnia cooties onto you too?” He joked quietly.
