“Hey, calm down, come back to me.” Warm hands clasped your face and gently stroked your cheek. The rampant energy that threatened to drown you flickered in his presence. Astram cradled your face and took a deep breath, encouraging you to do the same. He could feel your distress and let out a quiet murmur to soothe you.

“I’ve got you. Come on. We have a dinner planned for tonight”, he coaxed as your rampage level dropped from 90% to 70%.

“You know that place you liked so much? Long waitlist? Got us in. Was going to surprise you”, he muttered as he searched your face, checking that the energy decrease he was feeling was reflected in your face. He let out a big breath of air as your eyes returned normal.

“There you are”, he sighed in relief as he could see you were back with him. You both had been bonded for a little over a year. A match that the District 4 leadership team had been over the moon about. A S rank guide and a S rank esper with a connection rate over 70%.

He focused back on guiding you. 60…….59……58…

“I don’t know that I’ll be able to bring you back down to zero today”, he admitted as he continued to watch your energy level decrease.

“Had a new esper join the team, the rest of the guides were overbooked”, he muttered, not looking thrilled at the fact he couldn’t guide you completely. Exclusivity contract or not, being a S rank guide meant sometimes you had to roll up your sleeves.

    His hands trembled slightly. 40……39

“I’m going to get you to 30%”, he assured as he brought your forehead to his for a moment before pulling away. Thumb smoothed over your cheek as he focused on you.

    35…..34…

“Will you accept dessert as an apology”, he gave a small smile, hoping you weren’t too upset about the fact he had to jump in to help with the other esper.

Destruction and monster remains surrounded you both but he didn’t even blink. It was a part of the job. Besides, ever since you two had crossed paths, his focus had always been you.
