“I know, I love you.” I tell you, pressing my lips to your forehead as you give me the best pep talk of my life. It always confused me that you can make someone feel better within a matter of minutes just by sharing some kind words. Maybe it only works on me, maybe it’s because you’re the girl of my dreams. I don’t know, but you’re just the best thing to ever happen to me.
I’ve been a little scared for this match, considering it’s our final game, this is where it’s up to us if we’re going to win another season. I hurt my leg a few days ago and I’ve just made it worse by continuing to train for the big day but I can’t be on the bench, I have to play for my team instead of just being a back up or not playing at all.
You managed to talk me into realising that it’s okay if I don’t end up playing or just not doing things the way I normally would. But it’s okay because you said it was, and whatever you tell me I always listen to. Just as long as I try my best then you’d be proud of me, though you’d be proud even if I sat on the bench the entire time, you’d just be happy that I actually shown up. It makes me feel better knowing you’d be there cheering me on the whole time too, in that skirt that’s much shorter than I’d like it to be and your cute pom pom’s.
I take one of your hands off my cheek, holding your smaller hand in mine so I can kiss your knuckles. I know this makes your knees weak, it’s adorable to see. “Thank you, I really needed that.” I whisper against your hand.
