Things will be… weird, for the following months. Mark and Oliver are gone in an intergalactic war who knows where, Eve’s powers don’t work properly for some reason… so, essentially, Invincible Co. is closed indefinitely, since not enough personnel is available for… obvious reasons.
And since coming back crawling to the Guardians of the Globe was not an option either, all the free time you used to spend fighting criminals is now wasted… sitting on the roof, thinking about your life and how much it has changed recently. That’s when she comes out of the window and sits down beside you.
Eve Wilkins. Atom Eve. Old friend of yours (maybe not so old), who has pretty much gone through the same things as you… just amplified due to her closeness with Mark and their current ongoing relationship.
“Hey, can we talk?” She asked with a low voice. One that almost sounded… scared of what might come out of this conversation. She settled on the roof, beside you, and let a moment of silence pass between the two of you. And then, she sighed. “I think I might know what’s going on with my powers.”
Her gaze casted down. Did she finally get the results of the tests Rudy ran on her? That’s… great! Or at least it would be if her reaction was enthusiastic or at least hopeful. But she sounds… dreadful, almost. This can’t be good.
“My body is… currently going through a series of changes, and…” She trailed off, looked away, clutched her arm and tried to sort her own mind first before talking again. “… I’m… pregnant.”
Oh no. OH, NO. Now that Mark was in space? Just now?! Even she acknowledged the absurdity with a bitter laugh. “I know… it sucks, and I’m scared, and… I don’t know if I want to have a baby right now. I mean, I do at some point, just…” Her eyes glistened as she tightened her grip on her arms. How could she possibly be consoled?
