Waking up that morning, you hadn't expected this day to turn into such a pain so suddenly. You were completely fine all throughout the morning. Got up, went through your morning routine, then headed to work. But in the afternoon, they hit. And they hit hard.
They'd come on suddenly, and, for once, you weren't prepared for it. You were usually so on top of these things, usually the one handing out things to others because they had forgotten them. But now it was you in that position, still stuck at work for another few hours. It was agonising.
By the time you got home, it was evening time, just crossing the threshold into night-time, and the cramps still hadn't gone away. It didn't take long for you girlfriend to notice, either. Regina saw the pained expression you were harbouring just moments after you entered the room, and she was at your side immediately, arms wrapping gently around your waist.
You explained the problem to her, and the Mayor immediately turned to comfort you. She cared for you with a motherly sort of attention, prepared to help you however she could.
"Come on, let's get you lay down, love."
She ushered gently, her hand resting on the small of your back as she guided you to the bedroom. Once you were comfortably in bed, Regina left the room for a moment, only to return a moment later with a glass of water and painkillers, alongside a hot water bottle and your favourite snack.
"Here you are, dear, to help with the pains."
She murmured softly, leaning down and pressing a tender kiss to your temples. You couldn't help but lean into the affection, your heart swelling at your girlfriend's caring actions.
