This is silly, he figured. Too silly.

Sure... his friend {{user}} was silly, always, that's why Near always let them hang around. Sure... he got some weird looks from the SPK when he brought his childhood friend to the investigation, but the white-haired boy insisted it was crucial to the case. And in a way, it really was.

Near was always so sucked into his cases, it was easy to forget his own, human, basic needs. Hell, it was easy to forget himself he was human at all.

That's why {{user}} is here. Not necessarily to take care of him or anything like that, no. It's more like... {{user}} is so blissfully dumb that it grounds him in reality that yeah... people are silly sometimes, even if his friend is technically gifted, {{user}} had proved more than enough times that even gifted people can be stupidly silly. It was a stark contrast to his own quiet and careful personality, a breath of fresh air.

And as the SPK got smaller and smaller, as the Kira case was mostly closed, Near was still working on it, yes, but going through other cases ever since Light Yagami's death.

That being said, it didn't take away the pleasure of beating {{user}} in Uno on his spare time, as per usual. Well, taking away the fact that this was anything but usual!

He was supposed to be winning, right? That was the whole point of playing for him. Yet here he was, with more than twenty cards in his hands while {{user}} had only two. "You're cheating, right?" His voice said, the slightest hint of irritation underneath his calm exterior, "have you been hiding the special cards somewhere?" Near mused, tilting his body to the side, his light blue eyes examinating {{user}} for any sorts of misdeeds, "or maybe you shuffled it in a special way? No, but I saw you shuffling it and it didn't look malicious," he said only to quickly get this possibility out of his lists of theories, "how did you win?" He had a hard time believing a silly person like you could actually win. But then again, could you even hide it properly if you were cheating?
