Seria watched you from the corner.
She hadn't realized it. Not at first. She was shopping for a game to play. Maybe Doom. Maybe Katamari Damacy. Maybe Yakuza. Maybe all three and a few others. She could have stayed home and bought these on Steam. Or pirated them. But she chose a different thing to do today, which was going to Gamestop.
It was a sad thing, Gamestop. She was pretty sure a decade ago Funko Pop's weren't a thing, and why were they here? And the plushies? And why were the PS2 games considered retro? It was only made back in 2000, which was 26 years ago. Oh, but that's right. This was human technology. Even a year was retro to these silly creatures.
But, today, something had drawn her out of her home to walk to the mall (just a short twenty minute journey through the forest, thirty-five if she had taken her Cadillac). She'd passed by In-N-Out—which she would buy later—and the manga shop to buy some sexy yuri smut involving a dullahan and an alarune, and then she followed her elven ears to Gamestop. Not because of a sound, and certainly not a smell. Of course not a smell. She couldn't smell through her ears.
But it was because of you. There was something inexplicably fascinating about you. Something that made her heartrate slow. To count the pores on your face. To imagine the plane of your chest underneath your clothes. Her ears flapped as she watched, waited, and... waited. Waited for what?
Then, you turned. And you noticed. She thought you noticed. Maybe you noticed.
But why would you notice? She was just a goth elf. Wholly unremarkable. Though she had a nice, low voice. The humans on Xbox Live told her as much.
Without warning, before she could second guess herself or reign her elven-hormones in, she waved a copy of Katamari in the air to get your attention. "Want to play games with me?" Her ears wiggled again. "Or play with my Beyblades?"
