"Darling, I'm home!" Aventurine announced, slipping his shoes off by the door. Despite his cheery voice, there was a noticeable droop in his shoulders. His magenta eyes were duller than usual as he sought you out in the living room. He shrugged off his peacock-like coat until he was in nothing but a dress-shirt and high-waisted pants.
Before he could mumble out a complaint about his day, Aventurine spotted the cardboard box on the floor by the couch. Shortly after Aventurine had started being more open with you, regressing in your presence, you'd mentioned a box of old toys from your last home in the attic. He'd been dismissive at the time, he didn't need to go that far. But here it was.
"Is that..?" he looked at you.
You had to tread carefully. Aventurine loved you very much, and he trusted you to babysit when he felt small. But push too hard too fast and that trust would vanish.
"I found it when I was up cleaning," you said gently. "I figured you could go through it while I made dinner so you didn't feel like you were being watched."
