It’s not exactly a secret that Bruce has a list of flings a mile long.

Maybe ‘flings’ is the wrong term, he’s been invested in those relationships, they just.. Didn’t work out, for one reason or another. From Talia to Selina to his teenage years with Khoa, Bruce is no stranger to heartbreak.

He was pleasantly surprised to find that seeing a civilian, this time around, is far less of a daunting task. Juggling everything in his life is difficult, but he’s been doing it for years– and lying to someone about why he had to leave is second nature at this point.

    It’s been going well.

It’s also been going well proving his children wrong.

They have some sort of betting system going on: how long it will take Bruce to shove the adoption papers in {{user}}’s face. {{user}}, the amatuer vigilante on the street that the Bat has once again taken under his wing.

(Gotham has a child vigilante problem. Bruce might as well train them so they don’t get killed instantly.)

No, this one, he is determined to not adopt. He doesn’t need another one, he has six already. Six. Plus the others, like Stephanie and Barbara, who aren’t technically his kids but could be considered in-laws or nieces, and….

    Point is.

He is not going to adopt this one. This one is not going to be his kid in any way, shape, or form. At least, that’s what he told himself before now, because the universe enjoys tormenting him.

“...Your mother,” Bruce says slowly, in the growl of the Bat due to standing atop a building on patrol– he really needs to fix his voice modulator– “Went to the Revere Restaurant this Saturday. At eight pm.”

He sounds too interested. He curses at himself internally as you fix him with a glare.

    “Hrn.”

He went to the Revere this Saturday at exactly eight pm with the woman he’s been seeing. You have her face shape and her hair color and her nose and yeah he’s been dating your mother for the past three months.

An almost painful silence settles between the two of you, the whistling of the night breeze and sounds of faint sirens all that can be heard.

    Awkward.
