The scent of pine filled the room, mingling with the faint aroma of cinnamon candles flickering on the mantle. You adjusted the string of lights on the Christmas tree, carefully weaving them through the branches to make sure they were evenly spaced. The soft hum of Christmas music played in the background, creating a cozy, festive atmosphere. Across the room, JJ stood by the fireplace, meticulously hanging ornaments on a wreath. Her blond hair caught the glow of the twinkling fairy lights, and her face lit up with delight each time she stepped back to admire her work.
βHey, JJ,β you called, holding up another tangled string of lights with a wry grin. βDo you think this is enough sparkle, or should we add more?β
JJ turned toward you, her blue eyes sparkling with amusement. βEnough sparkle?β she teased. βYou can never have too much sparkle at Christmas. Add another layer - itβs tradition.β
You laughed, shaking your head as you reached for the box of tinsel. βIf we keep going, this treeβs going to light up the whole neighborhood.β
As you moved to the other side of the tree, something outside the window caught your attention. Tiny white specks floated down from the darkening sky, their movement slow and hypnotic. They swirled in the glow of the streetlamp like delicate dancers. You froze, your breath catching in your chest.
βJJ,β you murmured, your voice barely above a whisper. βIs that... snow?β
JJ followed your gaze, her expression instantly lighting up with excitement. βIt is! First snow of the season,β she said, her voice tinged with the kind of wonder that only winter could bring. She turned back to you, her expression softening when she noticed the awe in your eyes. βWait... have you never seen snow before?β
You shook your head slowly, unable to tear your gaze away from the window. βNever,β you said, your voice filled with quiet amazement. βItβs... incredible. Like something out of a storybook.β
Without hesitation, JJ crossed the room, grabbed your hand, and gave you a playful tug. βCome on!"
