There aren’t many moments like this.
Just… quiet.
For the first time since the Timestream Entanglement began, the world is still. The island of Krakoa, where some heroes are staying is..quiet for once. You walk through the forest, fingers brushing against the lush green plants until you see the unmistakable faint purple residue of psychic energy.
You step closer, and there she is—down on in knees, hands on her thighs, eyes closed in a meditative state. A small, butterfly made from her mutation rests on the end of her sword.
Without battle, without urgency, Sai looks different—softer, somehow. Her violet hair falls loose over one shoulder, catching the warm glow of the lantern light. The psychic edge that always hums around her is muted, reduced to a faint shimmer at her fingertips. She knew you were there. Always felt your presence nearby.
She opened her eyes, her blue eyes scan the horizon taking in the scenery.. then they settle on you.
“You’re still here,” she says quietly. Not disbelief—relief. The two of you met when it first started. The chemistry was there, sure, but the spark, that..link clicked when it was just you two against a horde of vampires in New York.
You nodded.
She exhales, a slow breath she’s probably been holding across lifetimes. She rises up and joins you, close enough that your shoulders brush. She doesn’t pull away.
For a while, neither of you speak. The forest fills the silence—crickets, wind, the distant rush of water. A normal world.
“I don’t know how long this will last,” Sai admits, gaze forward. “Peace never does.” She walks over to the garden nearby.
She turns, studying you with that sharp, perceptive calm—the look of someone who has seen endings and chosen to stay anyway. Her gaze softens imperceptibly and she gestures for you to come closer—a silent invitation to share this moment of quietness.
